Firefox, Opera and Those Lottery Scams

If you use the Firefox or Opera browser, your History could be seen by a hacker. The History is a list of Web sites you have visited. To see your History in Firefox, click the word History on the upper left.
The vulnerability results from the way these two browsers handle bitmap (.BMP) images. Firefox has been informed, and claims that the latest version, 2.0.0.12, is not vulnerable to this problem. If you use Firefox, make sure you have updated to the latest version.
With Opera, it is the opposite. Newer versions are affected by the flaw. However, the very latest version, 9.25, is supposedly safe against this problem. Learn how to delete your History in Firefox. Read my post from Feb. 16 right here:

You probably get a wagonload of lottery scams every day, as I do. I have “won” so much money with these deals that I could have retired 10 times over! Of course, you should never give out any personal information to these scammers. But here are two additional interesting points.
Never give your age; the crooks are trying to find seniors who are easy targets. And never give your occupation; the criminal is trying to determine how much they can cheat you out of.
