Another QuickTime Update, & a Trimongous Office 2007 SP1
Posted by Syd Tash under Updates
Apple has released the eighth security patch this year for its QuickTime media player. The update fixes three critical flaws in QuickTime. One of them has already been used in attacks.
If a user is tricked into visiting a malicious Web site, malware could be installed on the visitor’s PC.
While these attacks have targeted Windows computers, Mac users are equally at risk. Apple released patches for both systems. Get the patch here:

You may have a preview copy of that Vista Service Pack 1, which is now readily available to anyone via the Windows Update site. Microsoft makes you jump through many hoops before you will actually get your mitts on it. It may still have some problems, so it should be for experienced users only, at this point.
If you go for the Vista Service Pack, you will automatically receive Service Pack 1 for Office 2007, which is close to 220MB in size. You will also get this huge update if you are one of the limited testers of Windows XP Service Pack 3.
Many Vista users were confused by the appearance of the Office update. Microsoft had previously said Office SP1 would not be released for 3 – 6 months. Yet here it is. However, you can choose not to download it in Vista. When you see the list of available updates, you can uncheck the box next to Office 2007 SP1.
