Apple has released the eighth security patch this year for its media player. The update fixes three critical flaws in . One of them has already been used in attacks.

You may have a preview copy of that Vista Service Pack 1, which is now readily available to anyone via the Windows Update site. Microsoft makes you jump through many hoops before you will actually get your mitts on it. It may still have some problems, so it should be for experienced users only, at this point.

If you go for the , you will automatically receive Service Pack 1 for , which is close to 220MB in size. You will also get this huge update if you are one of the limited testers of Service Pack 3.

Many Vista users were confused by the appearance of the Office update. Microsoft had previously said Office SP1 would not be released for 3 – 6 months. Yet here it is. However, you can choose not to download it in Vista. When you see the list of available updates, you can uncheck the box next to Office 2007 SP1.
