Well, we were expecting a jumbo patch from Microsoft on June 9, and the company did not disappoint. In fact, the update fixes a record 31 security vulnerabilities in Windows, Office, Internet Explorer and other programs.

It might be wise to make a Restore Point and back up your important data. Then go to the Microsoft Update site and see what is waiting there for you.

Adobe Systems also issued updates. It said users of the Reader and Acrobat programs should update their computers. The flaws are rated critical, meaning an attacker could seize control of your computer, whether PC or Mac.

The easiest way to update these programs is to use the Secunia Online Software Inspector here. Click Start Scanner, check the box marked “Enable thorough system inspection”, and click Start.
