Of Worms, Trojans and Phishing Scams

Here’s why you should patch your software, especially Windows, as soon as updates become available. A Windows Trojan is circulating on the Web, that exploits the flaw Microsoft fixed back in October. It could cause a worm infestation on networks. The worm is called Win32/Conflicker.A.
The hackers love these updates. They jump on them as soon as they are released, and figure out how to use the vulnerability to attack unpatched machines. So please keep up to date with all your software.
Another worm has been targeting Mac OS X. If you have a Mac, make sure you are up to date with all patches.
Phishing attacks are increasing in number and sophistication. There are a few aimed at users of Capital One and Bank of America. You may be full of turkey and good feeling, but the crooks aren’t, so be careful.
