As expected, Microsoft delivered six security bulletins on July 14, repairing nine vulnerabilities in its software. Two of those bugs are being exploited by hackers right now. These are the flaws in the Video ActiveX control, and in DirectShow. The latter is part of the Windows graphics platform. Microsoft has known about the ActiveX flaw for 18 months or so. Update your computer now.

It so happens that another flaw in a separate ActiveX control has turned up, and was acknowledged by Microsoft this week. It too is being used by the crooks. Hopefully, we will get a fix for this one soon.
